🏕️ About Campfire Park
(told by the Cowboy at the Campfire, with Starling beside him)
Welcome to the Fire
Cowboy
Pull up a log, friend. The night’s got a little chill to it, but that’s just the mountain breathing. Out here we keep a steady fire — not too loud, not too fast.
Starling
The best ones always do.
Cowboy
You’ve found your way to Campfire Park — a gathering where stories, songs, and science share the same flame.
The Fire’s First Spark
Long before there was a park, Bob — the fellow who dreamed this up — was writing about rain and rivers, tracking how the seasons turned through the water cycle. But numbers and gauges can’t hold everything that moves a person.
He realized what was missing was the warmth of people, the sound of a guitar, and the spark of a story shared at dusk. So he built a campfire large enough to hold them all. That’s how Campfire Park came to be.
Campfire Park — A Living Story at the Foot of Stone Mountain
Welcome to Campfire Park — a modern campfire where story, song, and science share the same flame. Created by Bob Sobczak, it began as a study of rain and rivers and grew into a gathering of voices — human, natural, and a few in-between.
Here, the Cowboy keeps the fire, Starling listens, Bobby Angel sings, Mountain Man watches the rock and rain, and Ranger Rudi recalls the old stories that shaped the land.
It’s a place to slow down, trade noise for wonder, and remember that curiosity burns brighter than Wi-Fi. Pull up a log and stay awhile — the campfire’s always crackling, and visitors are always welcome.
— Bob Sobczak, Creator of Campfire Park
A Home Beneath the Mountain
Starling
We settled at the base of Stone Mountain, where the granite hums like an old hymn.
Cowboy
It’s more than scenery — it’s the heartbeat of everything here. Each drop of rain that slides off the rock, each pine-needle path, finds its way into what we share around this fire.
Who Keeps the Fire
I may tend the flames, but I’m far from alone. This park’s full of folks who keep it alive in their own ways.
- Bob — The Creator: the builder and caretaker who dreamed this whole place into being and keeps the lights glowing steady.
- Bobby Angel — The Artist: guitar in hand, he gives voice to the sparks that words can’t catch.
- Mountain Man — The Naturalist: lives close to the stone itself, watching the water, weather, and wind carve their stories into the granite.
- Ranger Rudi — The Historian: keeper of memory, teller of old park legends and the curious characters who came before.
- Cowboy — The Host: your storyteller and guide, tending the fire and keeping company with all who wander close.
- Starling — The Companion: quiet as the night itself, grounding the talk with a knowing heart and a half-smile that says she’s heard it all before.
Starling
Don’t forget the others — Buck Buckner, Burt Silver, Dino, Boogie, the Water Drop. They drift in and out like sparks on the wind.
Cowboy
True enough. Every voice keeps this campfire burning with its own color of light.
What We Believe
Cowboy
We didn’t invent the campfire; we’re just rebooting it for modern times — a place where story and science sit side by side, where curiosity burns brighter than Wi-Fi.
Starling
Less scrollin’, more listenin’.
Cowboy
Exactly. We believe the natural world still speaks, and that every good story — like every good rainfall — soaks in slow.
An Invitation
Cowboy
So if you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been here before, welcome back — the fire’s still warm.
Starling
There’s always room for one more log.
Cowboy
Wander around. You’ll find songs, lore, voices, and bits of the natural world all glowing together. And if you listen close, you might just hear the mountain hum along.
Closing Line
Welcome to Campfire Park, where the campfire is always crackling and visitors are always welcome.
